“He Opened Their Understanding”

There is a question on the desk: “Which specific principle needs to be realized to bring about structural changes in the so-called physical structure of body?” What is the spiritual principle? It is “God created man in His own image,” and God is Spirit, so the image and likeness of God is spiritual, incorporeal and invisible. Joel gave us this principle: “In my conscious oneness with God (Spirit), I am consciously one with all spiritual Being and idea.” Body is a spiritual idea. Spiritual healing is an activity of grace because the cause and effect activity is embodied in the Holy Trinity of omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience.

The Master said in the Sermon on the Mount, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” So the spiritual idea is perfection itself, completely fulfilled, maintained and sustained in a spiritual way by grace. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” If the Spirit of God dwells in you, your body is in a protected state, maintained and sustained spiritually. “The Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” To quicken means to give life. So that is the principle – in our conscious oneness with God, we are living in a spiritual universe. In this universe, “there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie.” “In my conscious oneness with God, I am consciously one with all spiritual Being and idea,” therefore, I need not take thought, rather trust the I AM that I AM, and let grace operate.

Dear Friend,

In going over this lesson, it came to me to recommend the study of “Unveiling the Christ” in Joel’s book, Spiritual Interpretation of Scripture. In this chapter, he writes of “a very wakeful Giant within…kicking so hard at your inner being that it forced you here to awaken to Its Presence.”

This truly is our only demonstration – to awaken to this “Giant within” thereby allowing this Presence to fulfill Its mission through and as us. This makes every day an adventure in living and loving.
