The Sermon On The Mount

Taken from the 2005 Los Angeles Class (#0538), this pamphlet puts the timeless principles of the Sermon on the Mount into modern language and gives the reader insight into making Jesus' highest message relevant for today's living. "We were chosen to experience the spiritual dimension of life by the Christ-Consciousness within us. Christ-Consciousness is within everyone, no matter what it is called. It does not matter what our background is, where we are from, or what we do - we just have to look at the makeup of the Master's disciples to see how universal this consciousness is. The idea of being chosen alters our perception of spirituality. We stop looking at spirituality from the standpoint of a sinning mortal struggling to achieve redemption. We realize we have always been children of God, and the spiritual nature within us has awakened us to that fact."

Snow White Purity

From the 2004 Nashville Class, this pamphlet reveals the path to your inner self. "Diving deep into the realm of soul takes a degree of courage, because the ego does not want to go there. There is a purifying activity in the soul realm that allows us to look out from our soul center with a different perspective. We have all heard the term a “window to your soul.” Mysticism is our awareness of the spiritual dimension within, the soul center. When we seek illumination, something happens to us that cracks the material shell and allows us to see the indwelling light. It might be in small degrees, but somehow universal love, which is the activity of spiritual consciousness, wipes a spot clean on the window to our soul and we feel the oneness of spiritual being. It might be only for an instant, but it is enough to set us seeking the spiritual life."

Dominion

Now in its second printing, this pamphlet by John Stephenson taken from the 2003 Los Angeles Class titled "The Deep Meaning of Dominion." This pocket sized pamphlet gives the reader examples of exercising our dominion through the recognition of the "sovereign within," the Christ of individual being. It defines mysticism, and reveals how healings are the result of withdrawing power from the world of effect.

"As we overcome the world through our awareness that we are heirs to the Kingdom of God, joint heirs in Christ to all the heavenly riches, we receive the greatest gift of all -- dominion."

Thoughts & Essays

This was a response to a letter asking my thoughts about the recent tsunami in the Indian Ocean.

A tsunami is a very different type of wave than what people surf. Even on our North Shore where the waves get up to 35-40 feet, they do not have the destructive force of a tsunami. Actually, I don't think a tsunami can be ridden. It's more like a fast rising tide than a surfable wave.

To me, one of the darkest parts of that tragedy is that people of many religions were blaming God for the destruction -- or trying to figure out what karma they had reaped. On the other hand, an editorial in the L.A Times by a rabbi pointed out that God had nothing to do with the disaster -- that God was not in the earthquake, or the flood. Perhaps the debate the wave caused will get people thinking about the nature of life, and our experience on this planet.

One of the most interesting parts of the coverage has been the lack of animal deaths. It seems the elephants, monkeys, dogs and cats, etc all had some sensory warning about the wave and headed to higher ground before it hit. It shows that in this universal consciousness, if one is sensitive to Its love, no life needs to be lost because of these type of geological events. Ultimately, as the awareness of spiritual oneness takes hold, and people realize that the world is in consciousness, the moving and stretching of the planet will not cause catastrophe. As we, spiritual students, consciously reinterpret the power of this world into the omnipotence of God, we will find our environment reflecting the harmony, grace and beauty of spiritual creation.

To treat the impressions of pain and suffering from this picture of disaster, I practice the principles of reinterpretation, impersonalization and nothingization as I would any appearance coming to me. The appearance of death and destruction is coming to my awareness to be resolved in Consciousness. What do I know in the depths of consciousness about life? Life is eternal. The appearance of those lost is from a material perspective. Spiritually they exist in the now, forever in the Universal Consciousness of love and peace. In the now, as spiritual consciousness is realized to be ever-present, the predictions of disease and famine are unfounded. Underlying all the human footsteps is the oneness of divine law, underpinning the humanitarian efforts with love, wisdom, compassion and peace. Contemplating the nature of God as universal good brings peace, not only to me, but to the world. The peace of God lifts one out of the dream of pain and suffering; It fills mankind with love; It comforts and brings release from the limitations of the human picture. It is our greatest gift to the world, and it begins with the individual awareness of the presence of God.
