Joel Goldsmith encouraged his dedicated students to open Infinite Way Study Centers so that others would have a place to meditate, to hear the message and to study his writings. All of the teachers he appointed to carry on the Message had study centers. Many of the teachers conducted sessions at their centers teaching from the Monthly Letters, reviewing a chapter from one of Joel’s books, or speaking on their own unfoldment. The teachers and students in these study centers were the ones who invited Joel to give classes.
Today, throughout the world, there are large and small student groups that gather in homes or public rooms to hear Joel's recorded lectures. Many more study his books individually. In these groups the host or hostess acts not only as the leader but the practitioner and eventually the teacher. In Hawaii there is an Infinite Way Study Center that has been continually meeting since the late 1950s. It was started by Daisy Shigemura, one of Joel’s original teachers, and has been lead since by five committed students, most of whom were personal students of Joel. John and Sandra Stephenson lead this group for seven years in the 1980s. It continues to meet today, where Keahulani Coleman plays a recorded class by Joel Goldsmith every Sunday at the YWCA in Downtown Honolulu. Meditation is at 9:45 AM and the class begins at 10 o’clock.
As when Joel was teaching, it is these groups who today invite teachers to give weekend classes in their area. For the past several years the Honolulu students have invited John Stephenson to give a class in Waikiki based on the principles and writings of Joel Goldsmith. John is one of the few people teaching today who knew and studied with Joel and his classes maintain the integrity of Infinite Way Principles. John does not re-interpret what Joel said; he demonstrates how Infinite Way principles lead to a life of spiritual freedom.
The purpose of class work is to experience the presence of God."Where two or more are gathered in My name, there am I." [Matthew 18:20] God is not an entity or identity; God is an experience. The individual’s experience of God is greatly enhanced in a class situation because the teacher’s consciousness, a developed healing consciousness, lifts the class into a deeper experience of oneness.
John gives classes across the United States, in Europe, and in Australia and New Zealand. He is invited by local students who practice the principles of the Infinite Way. Every one of his classes start with meditation and over the course of the weekend cover the nature of God, the nature of man, the nature of material belief, and the nature of prayer.
All are welcome in John’s classes.
